BUSINESS UNITS

Systems Engineering – Core Capabilities

The Systems Engineering Business Unit offers the following core competencies:

Air Traffic Control Simulations and Operational Scenarios – Systems engineering provides comprehensive systems engineering support services including ATC system design analysis, performance analysis, technology refresh/insertion, interface analysis, and R&D laboratory design, implementation, and operations. We provide engineering and ATC operational expertise in the development and demonstration of airport models and ATC scenarios and simulations. We also provide engineering support in the specification of ATC towers/runways/buildings and evaluations of airspace planning and ATC operational procedures.

Integration, Interoperability and Standardization – Systems Engineering assists customers in the development, coordination and maintenance of U.S. and international information exchange standards that ensure the interoperability of systems in Joint and Combined military operations. Systems Engineering is highly experienced with state-of-the-art ontological approaches to data standardization.

Software Sustainment and Support – Systems engineering provides life cycle support of military C4ISR and logistics systems, air traffic control (ATC) systems and other systems with embedded software. It includes such functions for those systems as software/system engineering, software acquisition support and monitoring, system integration, configuration management, hardware engineering, integration and test environment development, information assurance and end user support/tactical automation and field support.

Specialized Training Services – Systems engineering’s specialized training services include curriculum development and classroom instruction in the area of human intelligence (HUMINT)/counterintelligence; training facility development for FAA technical operations specialists; and design and development of 2D/3D computer-based training simulations that provide exceptional training realism for any functional domain and rapid deployment of intelligence-oriented mobile training teams anywhere in the world on short notice.

Systems Engineering and Integration (SE&I) focuses on designing, developing, and implementing solutions for government customers. We deliver high quality engineering and technical assistance as well as systems solutions throughout all phases of the software life-cycle, primarily post-development or post-production support.

Test and Evaluation - Systems engineering provides a full range of test and evaluation services for ATC, C4ISR, and other systems, including engineering evaluations of prototypes, proof-of-concept evaluations, human factors evaluations, safety evaluations, performance and suitability analyses, independent verification and validation and unit/integration testing of code developed by enterprise engineering as a part of system sustainment. Systems engineering also devised an ATC laboratory that is a miniature version of our nation’s ATC system – a laboratory that enables economic testing and evaluation of operational ATC systems and subsystems.
